
John "J.P." Peterson

John W. “J.P.” Peterson unexpectedly passed away April 3, 2022 in his home at Medicine Lake in Plymouth, MN. Born to John and Corrine Peterson January 7, 1960 in Duluth, MN. As a youth, John enjoyed spending time at the family cabin on Long Lake, was a Cub Scout and played Little League Baseball. He loved and excelled in playing hockey starting with the Portman Squirts and continuing into High School, playing for Duluth East. Graduating in 1978.
John was an avid MN Sports fan – always wore a baseball cap, very knowledgeable on on MN History/Native American History and all wars, especially the Civil War. John loved fishing off the dock at Medicine Lake and with the gang at Mille Lacs Lake.
John was employed at Core-Mark International as Transportation Manager for nearly 20 years until recently became Facility Manager. He was an excellent cook and prepared many meals for the Core-Mark Driver’s Appreciation events.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Mildred Peterson, Ed and Kathleen Behning; father, John; brother, Jeff; and step-father, Lyle Helmen.
John is survived by his mother, Corrine Helmen; sister, Beth, sister, Susan (Randy Miller); several cousins and special friend, Lisa Clouse and her son, Tyler.

A family memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation one hour prior at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 219 N. 6th Ave. E. Duluth, pastor David Carlson officiating.
