Theresa Jean Gitar White, 44, of Wicklow Street, died peacefully in her home on Jan. 16, 2005. She was born Feb. 29, 1960 in Duluth, Minn.
She attended Duluth East High School and later, Lake Superior College. She worked with the mentally and physically disabled. She enjoyed the visual arts, especially painting. She also also enjoyed music and reading. She loved nature and all animals. Several weeks before her death, she rescued a pigeon frozen to the sidewalk outside her home. Her pets miss her presence. She dreamed one day of operating an animal rehabilitation center.
Her father, Phillip Noel Gitar preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Heather Olson of Duluth; her mother, Erna J. Gitar of Duluth; her two sisters, Mary Azmitia of Duluth, Cathy Shanks of Watertown, Wis.; a brother, Richard (Lori) Gitar of Duluth; two nieces, Tamara Shanks of Watertown, Wis., Cheryl Gitar of Duluth; three nephews, Carl (Kim) Behning of Chanhassen, Minn., Erik Shanks of Duluth and Cory Gitar of Eagan, Minn.
