Michelle “Shelly” Mategko, age 64, of Duluth, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly on May 9, 2025, following sudden heart failure caused by a rare complication following a minor heart attack. A year earlier, Shelly had been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and had responded well to treatment with extraordinary resilience, strength, and determination. Just days before her passing, she had felt better than she had in years and was convinced her cancer was gone. Her family is grateful for the joy of those final weeks, when she was full of energy, hope, comfort, and a sense of renewed life. John W. “J.P.” Peterson unexpectedly passed away April 3, 2022 in his home at Medicine Lake in Plymouth, MN. Born to John and Corrine Peterson January 7, 1960 in Duluth, MN. As a youth, John enjoyed spending time at the family cabin on Long Lake, was a Cub Scout and played Little League Baseball.
